Mr. Dunnachie

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the number of those currently receiving supplementary benefit who will receive transitional additions from April when income support is introduced; and if he will provide these figures by amount of addition in bands of £1, and by claimant category, for each local office of his Department in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Worthington

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services, pursuant to his reply to the hon. Member for Knowsley South (Mr. Hughes)Official Report, 29 January, column 411, if he will break down the number of claimants who will receive a transitional addition (a) by category of claimant and (b) by benefit office.

Mr. Scott

[holding answer 17 February 1988]: Information on numbers of claimants receiving a transitional addition for each local office is not available. For Great Britain, the information requested is in the table.

this change may be entitled to family credit, and all claimants may be entitled to housing benefit and remission of health charges on the grounds of low income.
