§ Mr. Simon Hughes
To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what representations he has received concerning the position of the Chief Constable of the Royal Ulster Constabulary.

§ Mr. Tom King
The first part of my statement on 17 February dealt with the aspect of possible disciplinary proceedings as a result of the investigations carried out by Mr. Stalker and Mr. Sampson. I have undertaken to inform the House of further developments.
As I also told the House on 17 February, I have discussed certain aspects of the Stalker-Sampson inquiry report with the Chief Constable. In particular he has accepted in principle all the recommendations made by Mr. McLachlan.

§ Mr. Wallace
To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland when he last met the Chief Constable of the Royal Ulster Constabulary; and what subjects were discussed.

§ Mr. Stanley
My right hon. Friend and I meet the Chief Constable of the RUC regularly. Our meetings are confidential and it would not be right to disclose their content.
