§ Mr. NichollsThe Social Security Act 1986 provided for the introduction of statutory maternity pay from 6 April 1987 and for the assets and liabilities of the maternity pay fund to be transferred to the national insurance fund not later than 5 April 1988.
The transfer took place on 31 January 1988, on which date the maternity pay fund ceased to exist. A statement of account showing the state of maternity pay fund at the date of transfer will be published in due course.
