§ Mr. BeithTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport when he expects work to be completed on improvements to the A 1 between Berwick-upon-Tweed and the Scottish border.
§ Mr. Peter BottomleyTwo schemes are programmed for improvements to the Al north of Berwick-upon-Tweed. One involves a small scheme modification to the roundabout at the northern end of the Berwick-upon-Tweed bypass, and should be completed in 1988–89. The other will provide a dual carriageway from Marshall meadows to the Scottish border or beyond. This is a larger scheme and the most effective solution may require consultation with the Scottish Development Department. Work should be completed in the early 1990s.
