HC Deb 24 February 1988 vol 128 c201W
Mr. Butler

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he has made any estimates of the likely traffic flow over the second Severn bridge.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

The consultant's study of the second Severn crossing showed that for a bridge of the kind proposed, that is at English Stones with links to the M4 and M5, the high growth forecast (16-hour average annual daily flow) for the year 2010 was 14,100 vehicles for the existing bridge and 41,200 vehicles for the second crossing.
