§ Mr. Peter BottomleyHertfordshire county council's expenditure on road maintenance in 1986–87 and its budgeted expenditure for 1987–88 are broadly in line with its share of Government provision for road maintenance as used in the calculation of its rate support grant entitlement. This grant-related expenditure assessment (GRE) is formula-based and represents the cost of providing a standard level of service in each authority.
