HC Deb 24 February 1988 vol 128 c243W
Mr. Butler

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what progress has been made with the National AIDS Trust; and how much public money has been committed to it.

Mr. Newton

The National AIDS Trust has made considerable progress since its inception last year. A director has been appointed, advisory committees to help determine policy priorities set up, and systems are in place for distributing grants to voluntary organisations throughout the United Kingdom. The Government have made a grant of £500,000 to the trust for distribution to the voluntary sector, and have also contributed towards the trust's administrative costs in 1987–88.
