§ Mr. Terry DavisTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs when he expects the East African development division of the Overseas Development Administration to complete its assessment of the request for financial assistance with the preparation of the Tanzania 1988 population census; and if he will take steps to ensure that the census is not put in jeopardy as a result of the time taken by the Overseas Development Administration to deal with this request.
§ Mr. Chris PattenThe British development division in Eastern Africa will complete the assessment in question by the end of this month. This timetable is compatible with the plans of the Tanzanian authorities to hold the population census later this year.
