§ Mr. FreemanThe already high standard of marksmanship in the forces is being improved significantly through the introduction of the new SA80 rifle. With SA80 a much higher proportion of soldiers than with the older weapon now achieve Army marksman standard. There is, however, no complacency where this fundamental skill is concerned and the forces continue to strive to raise standards still further through realistic training and rigorous annual tests.
