Mr. Ted GarrettTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if North Tyneside borough council's grant-related expenditure allocation and grant relief entitlement for 1985–86 onwards will be adjusted to reflect the acceptance by the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys that the level of estimated emigration for 1982–83 requires adjustment to reflect the estimated population figures in subsequent years.
§ Mr. ChopeThe policy of the Secretary of State is to use the population of an area and the numbers of persons of particular ages in the area estimated by the Registrar General and certified by him for rate support grant purposes. However, the Secretary of State will consider representations made to him concerning revisions to population estimates before making his decisions for future supplementary reports for 1985–86 and later years.
