Mr. Ralph Howell

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list the expenditure of the National Health Service for 1960,1970, 1980, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986 and 1987; and what percentage of the gross domestic product these expenditures represented.

Data on net NHS expenditure, excluding NHS charges, for readily available years are shown in the table. The data have been derived from Central Statistical Office national accounts.
