HC Deb 22 February 1988 vol 128 c77W
Sir David Price

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what further steps he is taking to reduce rear and frontal spray from lorries on motorways.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

Regulations were introduced in November 1984 requiring from various dates heavy lorries and trailers to be fitted with spray-reducing devices complying with British Standards BS AU 200. The situation is improving as the number of heavy vehicles fitted increases. Lorry drivers should slow down in heavy rain to reduce spray and for reasons of safety.
