HC Deb 22 February 1988 vol 128 c88W
Mr. Beggs

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will introduce legislation to prohibit the consumption of alcohol in gardens of remembrance, public parks and on the streets of Northern Ireland; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Needham

There are no plans at present to make it an offence for an adult to consume intoxicating liquor in public areas in Northern Ireland. It is already an offence for those under 18 years of age to consume alcohol anywhere other than within private residential premises and for any person to be drunk in any public place or road.
