To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many replies his Department has received to its consultation paper on financing passenger transport authorities; how many of the replies support his Department's proposals; if he will now reconsider the proposals in the light of the comments received; and if he will make a statement.

As of 18 February 1988, my Department had received 20 responses to the consultation paper, containing a number of comments on the proposal. I will of course take all these comments into account in coming to a decision on the proposal.
