§ Mr. Wilson
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what was the cause of the emergency on board HMS Resolution on 26 January; and what steps have been taken to prevent a repetition of this type of incident.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence whether he will make a statement about the incident affecting the cooling system of the nuclear reactor of the submarine HMS Resolution on 26 January.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many(a) military personnel and (b) civilian employees were exposed to levels of radioactivity greater than the permitted dose as a result of the emergency on board HMS Resolution on 26 January; and how many of these were suspended from duty as a result.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what notification was given to(a) the local liaison committee, (b) the civil police and (c) the civil fire service concerning the incident on board HMS Resolution on 26 January.

§ Mr. Ian Stewart
The electrical malfunction which occurred on board HMS Resolution on 26 January posed no danger to the submarine's reactor, its crew or the public. There was therefore no occasion to notify the local liaison committee or emergency services under the terms of the Clyde area public safety scheme.
