HC Deb 19 February 1988 vol 127 c750W
Mr. McGrady

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what rate of interest Northern Ireland Electricity charges on extended credit for installation costs.

Mr. Viggers

The current rate of interest is 34 per cent. APR: the facility is available only to domestic consumers.

Mr. McGrady

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what proportion of electricity installation charges are on average attributable to(a) labour, (b) material and (c) other costs.

Mr. Viggers

This information is not readily available and could only he provided by Northern Ireland Electricity at a disproportionate cost. The proportions sought vary widely depending on the nature of the installation and an average figure would therefore have little meaning.

Mr. McGrady

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will give the basis on which charges for electricity installation are made by Northern Ireland Electricity.

Mr. Viggers

I refer the hon. Gentleman to the reply I gave to the hon. Gentleman, the Member for Foyle (Mr. Hume) on 16 February 1988 at column595.
