To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what information he has as to how many people are currently employed by the West Mercia constabulary; and how many of these are police officers.

As at 31 December 1987, there were 1,949 police officers and 746 civilians (counting part-time staff as half) working for the West Mercia constabulary.
