HC Deb 18 February 1988 vol 127 c686W
Mr. Wigley

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many officers in each health authority area in Wales are appointed to inspect private and publicly owned residential homes(a) for the elderly, (b) for the mentally ill, (c) for mentally disabled people and (d) for physically disabled people; and if he will outline the training and guidance which such officers have received.

Mr. Grist

Information about the total numbers of local authority and health service staff engaged in this function in Wales is not held centrally. The training of such staff is the primary responsibility of the authorities concerned, but the Welsh Office has co-operated in the provision of suitable facilities and has issued general guidance from time to time.
