HC Deb 18 February 1988 vol 127 cc711-2W
Mr. Tony Banks

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will publish an estimate of the staffing and financial consequences for the monitoring and approval of bids under section 11 of the Local Government Act 1966 submitted by inner London boroughs after the proposed transfer of education responsibilities to them following the abolition of the Inner London education authority.

Mr. Hurd

Details of the administrative arrangements for section 11 posts following the proposed abolition of ILEA have not yet been settled. I do not expect any significant staffing or financial consequences for the Home Office. Boroughs which take responsibility for existing ILEA posts funded under section 11 would take over responsibility for satisfying the Home Office of the effectiveness of those posts. They would be eligible to apply for section 11 grant for further posts, as they now do for posts in other services.
