To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what steps he is taking to put in place bilateral international arrangements for the confiscation of assets of convicted drug traffickers.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on the progress of discussions with foreign Governments about introducing reciprocal legislation to provide for the confiscation of all assets of drug traffickers.

Mr. Hurd

On 9 February my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs and I signed the first such agreement with the United States of America. We expect to conclude further agreements in the course of this year.
