To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment whether his Department will conduct a study on the alleged link between homeless young people and crime, drug abuse and alcohol abuse.

Mr. Waldegrave

We published research in 1981 which suggested that only a very small percentage of young homeless people suffer from alcoholism and drug addiction.
