HC Deb 17 February 1988 vol 127 c613W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what proposals exist for interoperability among NATO countries in(a) artillery barrels and (b) ammunition.

Mr. Sainsbury

Existing arrangements within NATO already provide a substantial measure of artillery barrel and ammunition interoperability. These include a quadrilateral ballistics memorandum of understanding, and a NATO sub-panel with responsibility for ammunition information exchange. The United Kingdom is also fully involved in discussions on the interoperability of future artillery systems.
