Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) whether he will list the constabularies which will have computers connected to the upgraded police national computer network and those constabularies that have an existing mainframe computer linked to the police national computer;

(2) whether he will list mainframe computers belonging to constabularies and indicate whether they are for command and control or criminal information purpose.

Hampshire intends to implement a direct link to the police national computer within the next year.

It is intended that all forces in England, Scotland and Wales will eventually have a direct link to the police national computer through the proposed upgraded network. Further information about force computer systems is not held centrally in the form requested.
