To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what is his estimate of the effect on the percentage of the total funding available to the National Health Service taken by administrative costs of collecting "hotel charges" from patients.

Such an estimate could only realistically be made in relation to proposals for the introduction of such charges, which we do not have.
