HC Deb 17 February 1988 vol 127 cc677-8W
Mr. Colvin

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will publish in theOfficial Report a table showing the monthly imports into the United Kingdom of fresh milk from European Economic Community member states for each year since such imports were first permitted.

Mr. Donald Thompson

Imports of UHT and sterilised milk have been allowed since November 1983. The latest data from Customs and Excise indicate that imports are running at about 500 tonnes a month, consisting mainly of skimmed milk from Belgium. More detailed information on this trade, and on Northern Ireland's imports of milk for processing, is given month by month in "Overseas Trade Statistics of the United Kingdom".
