HC Deb 17 February 1988 vol 127 cc615-6W
Mr. Alfred Morris

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what action has been taken, following the meeting between the Minister responsible for aviation and directors of Manchester Airport plc held on 8 February, to communicate the Government's views on the issues which the Manchester Airport plc directors raised at the meeting concerning the serious implications of the Civil Aviation Authority's draft charging proposals for Manchester airport; if he will publish any letter sent to the Civil Aviation authority as a result of that meeting; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

The issues are for the Civil Aviation Authority. As promised at the meeting, my noble Friend sent a short letter to the chairman of the authority mentioning the Government's oft-repeated White Paper commitment to the development of Manchester airport, and the provisions of section 39(2)(c) of the Airport Act 1986.
