HC Deb 17 February 1988 vol 127 cc640-7W
Mr. Corbyn

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list by district health authority(a) the establishment figure of medical laboratory scientific officers for each year since 1979, (b) the number in post for each year since 1979, and (c) the number who have left the National Health Service in the last year.

Mr. Newton

[pursuant to his reply, 2 February 1988 c. 591]: Establishment figures (a) and numbers of MLSOs leaving (c) are not available centrally. The table shows the number of medical laboratory scientific officers (including unqualified grades) employed by each district health authority at 30 September for the years 1982–1986. Comparable figures for 1979, 1980 and 1981 are not available.
