The term "Clydesdale constituency" was taken to mean the constituency following the 1983 boundary reorganisation, since there was no constituency of that name before then.

§ Mr. Michael Forsyth1981 census population figures are available for various predefined areas and for user-specified aggregations of postcode unit areas. Villages were not included in the former category because they did not have easily-defined boundaries.
