§ Mrs. RumboldThe pilot work on teacher appraisal, which is expected to be completed in summer 1989, is being 583W undertaken in six local education authorities under the direction of the national steering group. The intended outcome of the pilot work is a proven set of guidelines which will form the basis of an agreed national framework consistent with the June 1986 ACAS working group report. The implementation of that framework should lead to a system which will both enhance career development for teachers and raise standards of teaching in our schools.
