To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many cases the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board resolved in 1986–87 for police officers suffering crime-related injuries while on duty.

As stated at paragraph 8 of the board's latest annual report (Cm. 42), copies of which are in the Library, 1,948 cases involving injury to police officers on duty were resolved in the year ended 31 March 1987.
