§ Mr. HurdAs police authority for the metropolis I have approved estimates which provide for net revenue expenditure by the Metropolitan police of £1,004.967 million in 1988–89, an increase of 8.2 per cent. on the expenditure I approved for 1987–88. There will be a cash limit on current expenditure of £994.609 million. The remainder will be capital expenditure, for which separate controls exist.
I have also authorised the issue of a precept requiring rating authorities to levy rates at 16.5p in the £ for Metropolitan police purposes. This is an increase of 7.1 per cent. on the 1987–88 precept of 15.4p.
