To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what has been the number of employees of the Cheshire county council and each district council in Cheshire in each of the last 10 years, broken down by functions.

Individual authority data have only been included in the Joint Manpower Watch since the end of 1979. The information relating to Cheshire county council, broken down by function, is not available centrally. Aggregate figures for that authority are as follows:
