Dr. Cunningham

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list in theOfficial Report, the cash growth in net current expenditure from (a) 1978–79 to 1987–88 and (b) 1985–86 to 1987–88 for each of the following local authorities: Basildon, Brent, Camden, Greenwich, Hackney, Haringey, Inner London education authority, Islington, Lambeth, Lewisham, Sheffield, Southwark, Thamesdown, Liverpool, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Tower Hamlets, showing also the average figure for all local authorities in these two periods.

Dr. Cunningham

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will publish for each local authority selected for rate limitation since 1 April 1985, the percentage increase or decrease in its total expenditure for each year compared with the previous year, showing also the maximum rate applicable in each year.

The information on percentage changes in total expenditure is as shown. The relevant information on maximum rates and precepts was included in my reply of 11 January at columns95–99.
