§ Mrs. RumboldMy right hon. Friend has received a range of representations from parents, teachers and others about the GCSE. Many have welcomed the new examination and the content of courses associated with it. My right hon. Friend is concerned to ensure that any concerns expressed in representations about the content of GCSE syllabuses are brought to the attention of the GCSE examining groups and the Secondary Examinations Council, which are responsible for keeping the GCSE national criteria and syllabuses under review.
