§ Mr. McAllionTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will estimate what proportion of the people who have participated in YTS went on to get work for each year since the scheme began.
§ Mr. LangOf those who left YTS in Scotland in the period June 1984 to March 1985 (the earliest information available) 50 per cent. were in employment three months after leaving the scheme. The comparable figures for those who left between April 1985 to March 1986 and between April 1986 to August 1987 were 50 and 49 per cent. respectively.
§ Mr. McAllionTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many people in the Dundee district authority area are on YTS at the latest available date; and what are the corresponding figures for each month since the scheme began.
§ Mr. LangAs at 10 February 1988 there were 1,605 people on locally run YTS schemes in city of Dundee district. Camparable figures for the same date are 1,252 in 1987 and 1,371 in 1986 (the earliest information available). Monthly figures are not available except at disproportionate cost. The numbers on schemes administered by the Manpower Services Commission large company unit are not broken down to local level.
