To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will list each occasion since 1979 on which large components or prefabricated sections of ships being built under contract for his Department have been lost at sea and at what locations; what was the total cost of the losses; how much was recovered from the contractors; and if he will make a statement.

There have been no previous losses at sea since 1979 of large components or prefabricated sections of ships being built under contract for the MOD.
