HC Deb 15 February 1988 vol 127 cc488-9W
Mr. Kirkwood

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list in theOfficial Report his Department's staff targets for the hospital and community health services for each year since 1981 up to the latest year for which figures are available and similarly actual staff in post, all broken down by staff type.

Mr. Newton

A manpower control system was introduced in 1983 and the first manpower targets were given for March 1984. The distribution of approved targets between staff groups is a matter for regional decision.

The table therefore gives overall total comparisons of the 14 regions as at 31 March.
