HC Deb 15 February 1988 vol 127 c463W
Mr. Alan Williams

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what information he has or intends to gather in Wales about congenital cardiac malformation after the first week of life.

Mr. Grist

Health authorities in Wales are asked to provide the Welsh Office with information in respect of each in-patient and day patient discharged from hospital, including information relating to congenital cardiac malformation. Officials of the Department are presently exploring with those of the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys, which collates information on congenital malformation during the first week of life, the potential use of the child health computer system to provide data on congenital cardiac and other malformation after the first week of life.
