HL Deb 15 February 1988 vol 493 c487WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is the present membership of the Foreign Secretary's Advisory Panel on Disarmament, what are its terms of reference, and when did it last meet.

The Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Lord Glenarthur)

The Advisory Panel on Disarmament has not had a fixed membership since 1982. It was established in 1964 to enable Ministers to discuss arms control issues with politicians, academics and non-governmental organisations. In recent years this dialogue has been maintained and expanded through a number of increasingly specialised groupings. The panel itself last met in April 1987.
