HC Deb 11 February 1988 vol 127 cc342-3W
101. Mr. Michael McNair-Wilson

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he has any plans to revise the format of an income tax return.

Mr. Norman Lamont

Following its computerisation programmes for both self-employed taxpayers and employees, the Inland Revenue has over several years altered the layout of its tax returns for individuals so that they may be addressed and issued by machine. The last returns affected were those for issue on or after 6 April 1987. No further amendments are planned but the returns are reviewed annually as a matter of course following the passage of the Finance Bill.
