To ask the Prime Minister what proposals have been submitted by the Commission to the February meeting of the European Council in relation to the financial problems facing the community; and if she will make a statement.

I have been asked to reply.

During 1987 the Commission published a number of proposals which were considered at the European Council in Copenhagen. It has submitted no new proposals since.
