HC Deb 11 February 1988 vol 127 c296W
Mr. John Marshall

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a further statement on the progress in the sales of council houses under the right-to-buy legislation.

Mr. Waldegrave

Up to the end of September 1987, some 654,100 council tenants in England had bought their homes under the right-to-buy legislation. Sales last year were running a little higher than in 1985 and 1986, arid are expected to rise further following the substantial increase in applications received.
