Mrs. Rosie Barnes

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what advice he gives to district health authorities with regard to the provision of hospices for care of the terminally ill.

Mrs. Currie

The guidance given to health authorities by the Department on the planning and provision of terminal care services, including of hospices, is contained in health circular HC(87)4 of February 1987, a copy of which is in the Library.
