Of the 12,400 young people aged 16 years and over who left local authority care in England during the year ending 31 March 1986, a total of 1,800 were living independently or in lodgings immediately prior to leaving care.
Information for 1986–87 is not available yet. Information for Wales is a matter for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales.
