To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a further statement on the future provision of telephone exchanges for the deaf.

Mr. Scott

We are continuing to liaise with the other Government Departments and organisations concerned with a view to assisting the telephone exchange for the deaf, run by the Royal National Institute for the Deaf. We expect to be able to announce our decision shortly.
