HC Deb 09 February 1988 vol 127 cc126-7W
Mr. Simon Coombs

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on the provision of swimming facilities for the disabled in England and Wales.

Mr. Moynihan

The British Association for Disabled People regularly inspects the 1,000 or so public sector pools in England and Wales and maintains a register of their suitability for those with various handicaps. Of this total, organised swimming sessions for disabled people are held in about 2,490 swimming pools.
