To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the latest forecast date for the introduction of the new personal pensions arrangements.

Mr. Scott

The date from which it will be possible for individuals to join a personal pension scheme as an alternative to the state earnings-related scheme is 1 July 1988.
