HC Deb 09 February 1988 vol 127 cc164-5W
Mr. William Ross

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if, pursuant to his answer of 27 January,Official Report, column 291, he will make it his practice to give (a) the summary facts and (b) available total figures on possible individual extradition cases.

Mr. Stanley

I shall certainly continue the practice of giving the total figures on the number of applications for extradition made in a given period as in my reply to the hon. Member on 27 January, at column 292. It would not, however, be in the public interest to give the number of cases where possible extradition applications are being considered, or details of individual cases prior to Irish court proceedings.

Mr. William Ross

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what progress has been made towards the handing over to the Royal Ulster Constabulary of the three persons for whom applications for extradition from the Irish Republic were made between 1 December and 14 December 1987.

Mr. Stanley

One man is currently the subject of extradition proceedings before the district court.
