HC Deb 08 February 1988 vol 127 cc76-7W
Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales whether regional selective assistance will be available for United Kingdom firms moving from one region of the United Kingdom to Wales, or opening new branches in Wales following the change in policy announced on 12 January.

Mr. Peter Walker

Regional selective assistance will continue to be available for all qualifying projects which improve employment opportunities in the assisted areas. Projects which move from elsewhere in Great Britain will be eligible for assistance on the additional employment which they create. Since 1984 relocation projects involving no net increase in jobs have not normally been assisted and that policy has not changed as a consequence of the announcements made on 12 January.
