HC Deb 08 February 1988 vol 127 cc73-4W
Ms. Richardson

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment whether he will issue instructions for the removal of offensive pin-ups in all his departmental premises.

Mr. Nicholls

The programme of action to achieve equality for women which the Cabinet Office (Management and Personnel Office) issued in 1984 recommended that Departments should advise their staff that sexual harassment at work was not tolerated and would be treated as a disciplinary offence. The guidance issued to my staff gives examples of what might constitute sexual harassment. These include displays and circulation of sexually offensive material, for example pin-ups". I do not therefore consider that any further instructions are needed.
